SCOTS TV and radio broadcaster, Heather Suttie, is inviting unsigned music bands to perform at a Glasgow arts festival.
The presenter of, among other things, Sky TV’s music festival, Skyfest, Suttie is assisting local vintage clothes shop, Vintage Guru, showcase unsigned bands at the West End Festival, in the city’s Kelvingrove Park, on the 13th of next month.
She is assisting Vintage Guru in a PR capacity. But she has chosen to work with them because of the strong recycling element to the shop. For the last three years, Suttie has spearheaded a campaign encouraging people to stop using plastic carrier bags. Say No to Plastic includes working with bag designers and also hosting craft, vintage clothing and accessories and charity sales.
Her broadcasting last year included the Co-operative grocery chain’s in-store radio station – operating from Kent.
“Fairtrade, food and fun are three of my favourite things, add in playing music and I had a blast working with the Co-op. It was a brilliant job, I learned lots of things about good food and healthy eating and the studio I recorded from was near Davina McCall’s home, so I’d see her every now and again and with all the work she’s been doing with L’Oreal, I can tell you, she never ever had a bad hair day when I saw her.”
The former Xfm Scotland presenter said of the Vintage Guru Stage for Unsigned Bands: “This is a brilliant opportunity to perform at what promises to be a fantastic day and you just never know how many amazing opportunities will come from this. I already know of some very cool music industry peeps who are heading to the festival specifically to check out this stage.”
