INVERNESS-based Moray Firth Radio has secured a trio nominations in awards celebrating the best of commercial radio.
In the Arquiva Awards shortlist, the station has appeared in the shortlist in the three categories: Presenter (small station – broadcasting to a population below 300,000), Small station and Specialist programming.
To win the Small station prize, Moray Firth Radio will have to beat off the challenge of 106.4 Andover Sound and Mansfield 103.2.
Now in their 15th year, the awards are organised by the RadioCentre and “recognise excellence and talent in all aspects of commercial radio, from sales and marketing to technical innovation and presenting”.
Also among the nominations are Real Radio Scotland’s Ewen Cameron and Alan Rough. They are shortlisted in the Presenter (large station – broadcasting to a population above one million) category, up against Geoff Lloyd, of Absolute Radio, and Dave Gorman, also of Absolute Radio.
The shortlist were to prove a particular success for Absolute.
In the Programmer category, Duncan Campbell, of 97.3 Forth One/1548 Forth2, was nominated, while, in the Journalist/News category, Colin Mackay, political editor at Bauer Radio Scotland, also secured a shortlising.
