UK press agency, the Press Association, has announced the appointment of a new Scottish editor.
Victoria Mitchell has held the post of deputy editor in Scotland for the past two years and has overseen the expansion of the agency’s video-gathering operation. She was previously a chief reporter for Press Association Scotland, covering high profile stories such as the Glasgow airport terrorist attack, G8 summit at Gleneagles and the Maryhill plastics factory blast.
She succeeds Iain Duff, whose departure, after six years in the post – to go freelance – was reported earlier today.
Says Press Association editor, Jonathan Grun: “Victoria’s appointment recognises her hard work and dedication during the seven years that she has worked for the Press Association. She is a highly talented journalist and, with over 14 years of experience working in Scottish news, is well placed to respond to the requirements of our customers in this evolving marketplace.”
PA Group Limited – which owns the Press Association – is a private company with 27 shareholders, including Associated Newspaper Holdings Limited, News International plc, Trinity Mirror plc and United Business Media plc.
