THERE was a time when Friday night was sports preview night on STV and the fromat is to make a return, starting tomorrow, with the launch of STV Sports Centre, kicking off at 10.35pm.
Produced by Campbell Gray and exec produced by Howard Simpson, the show is to be co-hosted by STV sports reporter, Gerry McCulloch, and Sheelagh McLaren, best known for presenting the lunchtime and drivetime sports bulletins on Clyde 1.
Adds STV: “Joining Gerry and Sheelagh on the team will be STV reporter Chris Harvey, who will provide all the sports news from the north and quirky features from the sporting world, while regular reporter Keith Downie brings viewers all the big names and personalities, and the show’s very own betting guru shares his top tips for beating the bookie every week.”
The show will run for 30 minutes and be broadcast live. It will be supported – Monday to Thursday, at 10.35pm – with new, four minute-long sports bulletins.
Says Elizabeth Partyka, channel controller at STV: “We’re delighted to bring viewers more sport with this excellent new programme, which is a really different show for STV. Sport is very important to us and we’re committed to providing high quality, varied sports coverage to our audience.
