THE role of the media in the recent financial crisis is to be examined by a respected US academic and former senior newspaper editor and journalist, in a speech to be delivered at Stirling University.
Anya Schiffrin, of Columbia University in New York, is to talk on the topic, ‘The Press and the Economic Crisis: Challenges and Lessons’.
It is taking place on the 25th of this month, a fortnight yesterday.
Schiffrin is director of the International Media, Advocacy and Communications at the School of International and Public Affairs of Columbia University.
A former editor-in-chief of the Istanbul-based daily newspaper, The Turkish Times, she has been a stringer for Reuters in Barcelona, senior financial writer at The Industry Standard in New York, bureau chief for Dow Jones Newswires in Amsterdam and Hanoi, and a writer for many other publications.
