THE Gaelic language BBC radio station, Radio nan Gàidheal, has had its schedule extended. When previously it joined BBC Radio Scotland at lunchtime every weekday except on a Friday, it is to be now on air through lunch every weekday.
From Monday onwards, Cathy MacDonald – who has been hosting the existing Friday lunchtime show – will be on air from noon to 1.30pm, Monday-Thursday, and noon to 2pm on a Friday. It is to be a mix of guests talking and music.
Said Marion MacKinnon, managing editor, BBC Gàidhlig: “It is fantastic to be able to fulfil our long-held ambition to bridge the lunchtime gap on BBC Radio nan Gaidheal and add to the diverse range of programmes on offer.
“It is significant that the new programme will come from Stornoway having recently celebrated 30 years of broadcasting from Rosebank.”
