BBC Radio Scotland is among the nominations for awards recognising the best in UK radio production.
At a nominations ceremony held this evening in Manchester for the inaugural Radio Production Awards – hosted by the Radio Academy and the Radio Independents Group – BBC Radio Scotland was shortlisted in the ‘Live music (studio) production’ category.
Also among the nominees was Glasgow community radio station, Celtic Music Radio.
The awards were established to reward achievement by individual producers and production companies. Gillian Reynolds, the highly respected radio critic of the Daily Telegraph is the judging panel chair.
The winners will be announced on the 11th of next month.
Said Celtic Music’s Ross MacFadyen: “I’m chuffed to bits to be nominated for this award. Since joining Celtic Music Radio in July 2008, I have been particularly interested in promoting live music that otherwise would not get heard on the radio.”
Celtic Music Radio 1530AM has been broadcasting full-time around the Greater Glasgow area on 1530 kHz AM/MW since January two years ago. It can be listened to online at www.celticmusicradio.net.
