THE Scottish division of one of the UK’s best-known independent TV production companies has boosted its staff roster with the appointment of a head of Drama.
Shed Media has appointed Kate Croft, presently head of Touchpaper Scotland (part of the RDF media group).
From Shed Scotland’s Glasgow HQ, she will head up a new drama company, KoCo Drama (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shed) which will specialise in authored, writer-led drama for UK and US networks.
She will also be head of drama at Shed Media Scotland, working closely with all the drama producers in the group – Shed Productions, Wall to Wall and Twenty Twenty.
During her time at RDF, Kate developed and produced the drama, Murderland, starring Scots actor, Robbie Coltrane, and written by David Pirie which has just completed a three-week run on ITV1.
Said Eileen Gallagher, Shed Productions’ CEO: “This is a very exciting development for the Shed Media Group. Kate is a very talented drama executive who has worked with top UK writers and actors. Her task will be to build on these relationships as well as nurturing new talent from our hub in Glasgow.
Added Nick Southgate, CEO of Shed Media: “I’m tremendously excited about having Kate on board – she’s an extremely talented drama producer and will give our Scottish office real impetus. We’re looking forward to her working with the other drama executives in the group and bringing us a raft of new and established writers into the fold.”
