SMOOTH Radio in Glasgow has raised £31,000 for its chosen charity – Marie Curie’s Big Build Appeal – after its latest initiative.
The GMG-owned station held its annual appeal on Wednesday as part of a two-year tie-in with the charity that aims to build a new purpose-built hospice at Stobhill hospital in Glasgow.
Items were auctioned on-air all day, including a room make-over and a holiday to Mallorca. Further events planned include an entrepreneur challenge and a Christmas shopping lunch.
“I’m beyond delighted with what the team achieved on Big Wednesday,” Gerry Burke, head of presentation for Smooth Radio, said.
“Our target was £30,000 and to beat it, especially in the current economic climate is just fantastic.”
