TV WEATHER presenterl, Jean Johansson, was the subject of a large feature in the most recent edition of Scotland on Sunday newspaper.
And the article – part of a ‘Welcome to my world’ series – owed much to the PR efforts of a former Sunday Herald business editor, Ken Symon, who yesterday officially announced he is to handle Johansson’s public relations as she seeks to boost her profile and career.
Port Glasgow-born Johansson has recently returned to Scotland, from London where she was a presenter with CBBC and the Disney Channel. She is now at STV.
During her time time in London she compered the Disney Channel Awards at the London Arena in front of a crowd of 12,000 and also presented the First Light Film Awards, at a Leicester Square cinema, rewarding young film makers.
As well as presenting, she has also appeared in numerous fashion campaigns including for Scottish clothing brands Jeanster, Internacionale and Molton Brown cosmetics. She is married to former Rangers and Hibernian footballer, Finland international, Jonatan Johansson.
Next month, Jean will be taking part in Byte Night 2009, an annual sleep-out event organised by the leading charity, Action for Children, to raise awareness of the plight of young homeless Scots.
Symon left the Sunday Herald in August two years, to join PR and public affairs outfit, McGarvie Morrison Media. He set up on his own in April and his clients include the insolvency trade body, R3, the Glasgow University Innovatioon Network and international aviation and travel website, Airwise.
Symon said: “I hope shortly to announce another client win and a strategic move for Symon Media which will significantly extend our offering to the market.”
