ONE of the most sought-after jobs in journalism is up for grabs and all the successful candidate needs to do to secure it is convince a sufficiently large number of members of the National Union of Journalists that he or she is the right person for the job.
The NUJ is inviting applications for the job of editor of the union’s magazine, The Journalist.
And it’s up to the members to decide, in a vote, who will be awarded it.
The full-time post, based in London, has been filled these last 21 years by Tim Gopsill, who is about to retire.
To be short-listed in the election, applicants are required to have five years continuous membership of the NUJ. The deadline for applications is September 21.
The salary has not been revealed in a NUJ memo to members, but allmediascotland.com understands it could be circa £50,000.
