A FORMER editor of The Scotsman’s website has announced plans to launch a new newspaper – “committed to quality journalism” – in Scotland.
Stewart Kirkpatrick has used his blog on allmediascotland.com to say that the timescale is a matter of weeks and that a team of writers has already been recruited.
Many details are still being kept secret, including frequency of publication, the identity of the writers and the name of the project.
But Kirkpatrick writes: “We’ve signed up leading writers, respected authorities in their fields and asked them to let rip. We want them to tell the stories that the churning maelstrom of the old-fashioned newsroom never allowed. We’re interested in quality, not filling space. We’re not worried about what’s in the other papers this morning, we want to be told something we don’t know already.”
