A SCOTTISH MP is shadowing staff at STV, to better understand the commercial television sector in his capacity as chair of a Westminster committee on Scottish broadcasting.
In total, David Cairns will spend five days at the station, during which time he’ll be attending editorial meetings, going out on jobs with reporters, and seeing how the news gallery works.
He’ll also be spending time with STV’s sales, content and ventures teams.
He is chair of Westminster’s all-party parliamentary group on Scottish broadcasting.
The opportunity to shadow STV is thanks to the IPT Cultural and Creative Industries Fellowship – a bespoke programme for MPs comprising a series of placements in the creative industries.
STV is one of the first broadcasters to take part in the programme.
