A NEW set of terms and conditions affecting freelance contributors to The Herald group of newspapers are set to come into force today, but there’s confusion about whether they will be implemented because the National Union of Journalists is saying they are still subject to negotiation.
It is understood that the terms – against a backdrop of tightening budgets – say the group can do what it wants with a freelancer’s piece of work, including re-use and syndicate it, unless agreed otherwise in advance.
