GLASGOW’S creative companies are being invited to investigate renting work space in a building – still under construction – that will soon become home to a ‘creative community’.
The Hub – near the headquarters of both BBC Scotland and stv group plc – is to comprise 65,000 sq.ft. of space dedicated entirely to the city’s creative businesses.
A website launched yesterday provides information about what the building will look like once it’s construction is completed – in a couple of months’ time. It also includes details who to contact to rent space.
The minimum space that can be rented is a mere 127 sq.ft. and the building will be part of what’s being described as a ‘digital media quarter’ for the city.
Say developers, Downtown Space: “Businesses can be up and running at The Hub within just 48 hours of signing a lease. An intranet will allow tenants to meet, interact, showcase their work and keep up to date with the activities of their fellow tenants, as well as book meeting space at other creative centres.”
Adds Downtown Space director, Ian Robertson: “It’s great news that we are now in a position to unveil our website and begin the process of showcasing The Hub. The website perfectly illustrates our vision, which is for a bespoke building designed for Scotland’s renowned creative companies, situated in a location that ideally suits the sector.
“The website encapsulates the ethos of The Hub, which is that we are creating a new and seriously creative community. Up to 50 businesses will be based here ultimately, all benefiting from unparalleled opportunities to network with each other. The Hub will also incorporate a cafe/bar, which will welcome staff from other nearby buildings, as well as the Hubsquare, our central atrium in which we plan to hold exhibitions and events.”
