LAST night’s broadcast on stv of the Edinburgh Festival Fireworks was the final bow for one of the station’s most senior producers.
On Friday, in an email to colleagues, Henry Eagles announced that he would be leaving, immediately after producing the fireworks show – broadcast last night at 10.20pm.
The former head of sport leaves with a severance package, on the same day the owner’s chief executive was reported refusing to rule out a further reduction in staff, despite the company shedding almost a quarter of its staff since last year.
SMG’s Rob Woodward was quoted by The Sunday Herald saying that staff cuts were not planned – on the back of numbers being cut from 500 to 400 since March last year.
But he added: “We never rule anything out.”
