AMONG those competing in the Open golf championship this week, allmediascotland.com will be rooting for one in particular.
Barry Hume – a professional at the Haggs Castle course in Glasgow – managed to squeeze his way through a qualifying round last week, with scores of 70 and 75.
But the main reason why the former Scottish Amateur champion is being hailed by allmediascotland is that he is boyfriend of Lennox Herald reporter, Laura McLachlan.
McLachlan – who has just graduated from the Scottish Centre for Journalism Studies – was, on Friday, a guest of local whisky company, Ballantine’s, as part of its sponsorship of the Scottish Open golf championship at Loch Lomond.
On Friday, Ballantine’s brand director, Peter Moore, so happened to mention his company’s sponsorship of a golf tournament in South Korea.
From what he was saying, it seemed he had formed a good friendship with its winner… a certain Graeme McDowell, who, on Sunday evening, emerged victorious at the Scottish Open.
