THE Scottish football season may be still some way off, but it’s not so dormant as to merit no coverage at all in the media.
Except that, yesterday, The Times almost achieved that in its 12-page football supplement, which – except for a paltry two paragraphs – was devoid of Scottish content.
Despite the pull-out being emblazoned: The Game in Scotland – the very best of Scottish and English football.
But Spike is to some extent prepared to forgive the oversight; if the two paragraphs suggest there is only one club in Scotland worth bothering about and that club is Hibernian, then fine by Spike.
Mind you, it was a report of the club’s 2-0 loss in European competition, to Swedish opponents, Elfsborg.
