AN award-winning design and publishing agency is looking to strike up a partnership with a media buying company to exploit the advertising potential in digital magazines.
Glasgow-based Planet Ink Ltd, set up two years ago by former newspaper journalists – Gerry Cassidy and Shaun Milne – specialise in what they describe as ‘page turn digital magazines’.
Now they want to find a partner looking to sell advertising space in magazines they produce, some of which claim a potential direct mailing of up to 300,000 a month.
Says founding director, Milne: “It was an idea floated to us by a client, that we could generate income through advertising in magazines sent out for free.
“Clearly, design and publishing is our speciality, so we are looking to find a company who are top or their game in advertising, for what could be a handsome earning split.”
“We do have a specific project in mind, and if that goes well, then we would look to build from there.”
Cassidy was assistant features editor at the Daily Record and Milne deputy editor of the Scottish Mirror when they quit to set up Planet Ink.
In November, the company won the Periodical Publishers Association Scotland award for ‘Best staff magazine’ – for monthly staff newspaper, ScottishPower News – and were short-listed in three other categories, all involving digital editions of the publications they created.
