ONE would like to think that when covering the film festival in his paper’s home city, The Scotsman’s film critic might be funded to take a suite in one of the upmarket hotels, whereupon guests ‘would be received’.
But Spike hears that, ahead of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, taking place next month, The Scotsman’s Alistair Harkness is on the hunt for a free place ‘to crash’.
An email has been sent to Scotsman staff – by his boss – enquiring if anyone might be able to offer Alistair – who is based in Glasgow – a spare room.
Says the email: He’s “very talented and thoroughly likeable”.
