THE Scotsman newspaper is be slightly revamped, to devote more space to debate and opinion.
The move – which will also see the creation of a Life & Arts section – comes as the paper launches a series of debates, including on the future of the Scottish media.
The 28th of this month sees representatives from all the major political parties asking whether Scotland is any nearer to independence. That is taking place in Edinburgh.
On the second of next month, it’s Aberdeen’s turn – this time hosting a debate on US tycoon, Donald Trump’s plans to build a golf resort in Aberdeenshire.
Benbecula is the location for a debate, on the 24th of next month, about the future of the Scottish islands.
The series will end with debates on the future of wind power, in the Scottish Borders in September, and the future of Scotland’s media, at The Mitchell Library in Glasgow in October.
It kicks off with a 12-page supplement, comprising a history of the newspaper, accompanying tomorrow’s edition.
Last year, Scotsman journalists conducted a nationwide tour, ‘setting up shop’ to record local opinion on various issues.
