TV broadcasters, stv, are, finally, to get their man. Yesterday, it was announced that Alan Clements is to join the company, as director of content.
With a start date of September 15, it is three months earlier than expected, following his departure from London-based RDF Media, which – in court, last year – successfully repelled an attempt by him to sever ties ahead of the completion of a three-year ‘non-compete’ clause.
The clause followed the purchase, by RDF Media, of IWC, the independent TV production company which he co-owned along with, among others, his wife, broadcaster, Kirsty Wark.
But it seems RDF Media and SMG have struck an agreement to allow him to join before the expected joining date of December
Clements will be responsible for all of stv’s network and regional television programme output. He will report directly to the chief executive of parent company, SMG, Rob Woodward.
