IT’S been a good few days for awards at Radio Clyde.
On the back of winning the Music Week Station of the Year Award and receiving a Sony nomination for Bowie at Breakfast, the Radio Clyde news team has taken an IRN Award for Best News Coverage.
The award was for its coverage of Glasgow winning the right to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Reporting in Sri Lanka, where the identity of the winning host was being announced, were Lorraine Herbison – who has just been confirmed as Radio Clyde’s news editor – and Sheelagh McLaren.
Their coverage included interviews with Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond, and former Scottish rugby captain, Gavin Hastings.
In addition to the live coverage, the news team produced a half hour-long documentary tracing the progress of the bid, from its conception five years ago, up to the announcement of the winner.
