THE Evening Times was commended in the ‘Newspaper of the year’ section in the annual, UK-wide awards contest run by its parent company, Newsquest.
And in the ‘Photographer of the year’ section, a highly-commended (effectively runner-up) award went to the paper’s staffman, Marc Turner.
The Glasgow paper was up against stiff opposition in the ‘Newspaper of the year’ section, with the top award going to the Northern Echo daily.
Brighton’s evening newspaper, the Argus, was runner-up, with the Evening Times effectively third.
The contest was open to all 17 daily and 300 weekly Newsquest titles across the UK.
