SCOTTISH journalists who have reported asylum and refugee issues are being invited to enter a competition being run by the charity, Oxfam.
This is the fourth year there has been Scottish media awards to coincide with Refugee Week and they are open to TV and radio broadcasters, newspaper journalists and photographers.
Previous winners have come from BBC Scotland, stv, the Sunday Mail, the Sunday Herald, The Herald, The Scotsman, The Big Issue, the Evening Times and the Edinburgh Evening News.
Says Oxfam’s Jason Bergen: “Scottish journalists are setting the standard across the United Kingdom when it comes to reporting asylum matters, and we have seen a distinct improvement in reporting over recent years. However, it is important that the quality of reporting remains high and that is why we are once again asking for nominations for the Refugee Week Scottish Media Awards.”
The Refugee Week is June 16-22.
Nominations close on the ninth of next month.
