THE Sun and The Observer newspapers are among six shortlisted for the Newspaper of the Year title at this year’s British Press Awards.
Last week, the awards organisers released all the nominations, but for those in the newspaper and journalist of the year categories.
In the former, the contenders are the Financial Times, The Sun, The Daily Mail, the Mail on Sunday, The Observer and The Sunday Times.
In the latter, they are Tom Newton Dunn (The Sun), Andrew Gilligan (Evening Standard), Christina Lamb (Sunday Times), Nick Davies (The Guardian), Rebekah Wade (The Sun) and the late Bill Deedes (Daily Telegraph).
