AS sent as breaking news to eNewsletter subscribers last night, Scotland on Sunday newspaper has received the most nominations for this year’s Scottish Press Awards – the shortlist for which have just been released.
The awards – taking place next month, in Glasgow – also sees The Scotsman and The Herald both feature strongly, each on 12 nominations. But SoS pips them with 13.
This is the 29th year of the awards, which are organised by the Scottish Daily Newspaper Society. The winners across 22 categories will be announced on the 17th of next month. The host is TV presenter, Fiona Armstrong.
Controversy accompanied the invite for this year’s entries when it was realised that some journalists would be prevented from entering categories such as ‘Feature writer’, and also ‘Arts and entertainment writer’, for no other reason than they work for their newspaper’s magazine.
‘Magazine writer of the year’ is a new category, as is ‘sports scoop’.
