A FREELANCE hack, this week visiting the Daily Record’s first-floor branch office on Aberdeen’s bustling Union Street, was bemused by a plethora of prominent arrowed signs, proclaiming: ‘Polish your English’.
The hack, who much admires the grammatical skills of the tabloid’s dynamic duo, Bob Dow and Charlie Gall, wondered whether they had established a nice little earner, on the side.
However, all was revealed when it emerged that an enterprising Polish lady had established an English language teaching centre along the corridor, and another two similar linguistic establishments have sprung up among the labyrinth of corridors in the impressive granite building.
