SCOTTISH Wrestling is currently in need of a new premises, as the organisation moves towards an exciting year of events, culminating in the Commonwealth Games in 2022.
As an ambitious organisation, Scottish Wrestling has shown to deliver outstanding results – only recently dominating the best wrestlers in England at a dual meet, winning 5-1.
The organisation has been struggling to find a location to continue their training and delivery of programmes this year and are on the lookout for a permanent premises to support the athletes and teams.
There are currently 21 athletes within the organisation who include the world number 5.
Alex Gladkov, governance director at Scottish Wrestling, explains: “We are looking for a home for Scottish Wrestling to provide a continuous pathway for all participants, and to offer training sessions, camps, coaching, volunteering and official education and practice opportunities.
“A permanent facility would mean the world to our athletes, coaches, officials and the entire wrestling community enabling the continuous growth of the sport at all levels.”
The Birmingham 2022 longlist athletes are currently away in Romania for a training camp and competition. Thereafter, they will be coming back to Scotland to prepare for the next set of qualifying competitions, including the British Championships and Commonwealth Championships in South Africa.
Gordon Ritchie, managing director of sport ,arketing agency, GRM, says: “Scottish Wrestling have a real chance at the Commonwealth Games and currently do not have any training premises.
“Training is key to winning medals and the organisation is in desperate need of a permanent base preferably in the central belt as most wrestling activity is based in this area. If anyone can assist, please contact us at hello@grm.agency.”
