ALMOST 40 per cent of delegates to this weekend’s Edinburgh International TV Festival are expected to attend at least five parties, with around 70 per cent saying they’ll need to take a day off work, after the weekend, to recover.
It follows research by TV station, Discovery Networks UK, which shows that delegates are likely to get through an average 20 units of alcohol over the three-day event and that 65 per cent plan to have their first drink as soon as they arrive.
Indeed, 74 per cent of the research sample say they expect to be hung-over every day, with 55 per cent of them adding they will rely on a full Scottish breakfast to sort them out.
The survey, which included 100 past and present festival delegates, was commissioned to mark the launch of the Discovery Recovery Lounge, an area at the event which which will allow delegates to ‘chill out’.
It sounds like they’ll need it: some 68 per cent of delegates expect to party until at least 3am, with a hardened 14 per cent saying they don’t anticipate getting more than three hours sleep per night.
