IT was the annual List magazine party last night and it was a night for double celebration: as well as helping launch the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it marked a massive revamping of the title’s website.
www.list.co.uk owes much to the team behind the success of The Scotsman’s website, which enjoyed a leap in unique visitor numbers, from 400,000 six years ago to 3.8 million at the start of this year.
The architecture of the revamped list site means that, for every main article being displayed, the system offers links to related information, including restaurants near a particular bar (and in order of proximity, too), or other art venues, or other movie thrillers.
Says Alistair Brown, general manager of List Digital: “The events, listings and articles The List produces are perfect for the new generation of web and mobile services and the team will seek to deliver world class products for their readers and advertisers. The new site is our first step in making the List’s entertainment listings as accessible and user friendly as possible and the site will continue to evolve, improve and expand in the coming months.”
Brown was previously general manager of scotsman.com, before joining The List three months ago. He is part of a team also comprising Andy Carmichael, senior developer; Bruce Combe, senior designer; Iain McCusker, software developer; and Justine Watt, business development
manager – Carmichael, Combe and Watt also from scotsman.com
And on Monday, again from scotsman.com, Brendan Miles joins as digital business development manager.
