A NEW life in France awaits the editor of weekly newspaper, the Dunoon Observer.
Bill Jardine, who has been editing the independent, family-owned title for the last four years, retires tomorrow – to head off, with his wife and pet dogs, for Britanny.
This has been Jardine’s second spell at the paper – which comes out on Fridays and was founded in 1871.
During the 1990s, he was a reporter before heading to near Hull and the Holderness Gazette.
One of the Dunoon Observer’s recent successes was to spearhead a public campaign against the building of a ‘super-campus’ school, for nursery, primary and secondary school-age children in the area.
Thursday sees senior reporter, Colin Cameron, take over the ‘hot seat’ – becoming only the paper’s tenth editor.
