HE was coolness itself when he realised – half-way back to Edinburgh from Glasgow in the wee small hours of Saturday morning – that he had left his credit card behind the bar.
But for Gordon Santana – head of newspaper sales and marketing for The Scotsman, and heading home from the Scottish Marketing Excellence awards – all it took was a phone call to the hotel hosting the event.
First, he got through to a guy on the front desk, who then patched the call to a colleague on the floor where the awards were taking place.
Gordon wasn’t sure of his chances.
“I am looking for a friend wearing a scarlet dress,” he began, as he tried to think of someone who might be able to retrieve his card.
“I see her,” declared the helpful member of staff.
Problem solved.
