LESSONS learned from the Hutton Inquiry into reporting standards at the BBC are to be part of a training workshop being hosted by BBC Scotland in Malawi.
The five-day long workshop is for delegates from the state broadcaster MBC (the Malawian Broadcast Corporation), and commercial stations 101FM, and Capital Radio.
The week will culminate in a live radio stand-off, as the Malawians team up to go head-to-head in broadcasting two rival brand new half-hour programmes.
Says the BBC: “The workshops will cover editorial balance, including lessons learnt from the Hutton Inquiry; interviewing, in particular the art of the political interview as there is still some pressure on broadcasters from the government and lack of independence for the media is a real issue; location reporting, live studio production and voice training.”
