IF every week involves the reporting of a local winner of the National Lottery, then a trial editorship in Greenock is bound to be deemed a success.
For the last week, Anne Caine – the deputy editor at evening newspaper, the Greenock Telegraph – has been acting editor, while editor, Tom McConigley, takes on a more overall editorial responsibility for the paper, plus local weekly titles: the Clydebank Post, the Paisley Gazette, the Dumbarton Reporter, the Barrhead News and the Helensburgh Advertiser.
The Greenock Telegraph, like the weeklies, is owned by Clyde & Forth Press.
Caine is to be acting editor for three months, with a view to her being made editor on a more permanent basis.
