YOU will have no doubt read elsewhere, including yesterday’s Sunday Herald: Wednesday sees the last edition being produced of the free newspaper for the west end of Glasgow, the West End Mail.
Owned by the same company that owns The Herald and Evening Times, the paper’s closure is being put down to a lack of advertising revenue.
Says the publisher’s managing director, Tim Blott: “We launched the title in July 2005 and it was well received within the community but, sadly, despite nearly 18 months of trading, it has failed to attract sufficient advertising revenue. Consultations on redundancy are currently taking place with the four staff who are affected. Where possible they will be offered alternative positions within the company.”
