Media job: Deputy news editor, Evening Telegraph

CLOSING DATE: February 23, 2018

THE Evening Telegraph is looking for a talented, driven deputy news editor who is ready to help continue the newspaper’s fantastic track record for breaking the biggest stories in Dundee.

Based in our newly-refurbished Meadowside HQ in the heart of the up-and-coming City of Discovery, you will be responsible for helping leading our team of reporters and setting the daily news agenda.

You will also be expected to come up with ideas for features, series and one-off magazines to help broaden the appeal of what is already one of the UK’s most successful evening newspaper titles.

The ability to play a key role in managing and leading a team working in one of the busiest news patches in Scotland will be essential as will an in-depth knowledge of the Editors’ Code and newspaper law to ensure the Evening Telegraph upholds the highest standards.

As deputy news editor, the successful applicant will also play an important role in the wider management team and work closely with other departments in the DC Thomson newspaper business.

Dundee is still famous for its journalism – not so much these days for jute and jam – and the city is going through a period of huge transformation which includes a £1billion redevelopment of its Waterfront and the opening of the V&A museum later this year.

This is your chance to be part of this exciting renaissance.

To apply for this role, please follow our online application process and submit a CV and cover letter.

This is a full-time position for 35 hours per week, working from our Meadowside office, Dundee. We offer a generous package including 34 days holiday, health cash plan, gym discount, childcare vouchers, excellent pension, a competitive salary, and many more staff discounts and benefits.
