A SUMMARY of the major trends in television and New Media these last six months has been published in handy, booklet form by a Glasgow-based training and research centre.
‘Transforming Television: Strategies for Convergence’ marks a new chapter in the evolution of the long-established The Research Centre, which describes itself, as part of an overall makeover it has just undertaken, as “an independent charity working in partnership with international and UK broadcasters, producers and agencies to provide training and research to the creative content industry”.
Containing eight articles by, among others, the BBC director-general, Mark Thompson, plus the chief executive of Channel Four, Andy Duncan, the booklet is being billed as a “distillation” from an estimated 1,000 articles about the media these last six months.
The Research Centre is better known for landmark pieces of research on single topics. But it now aims to accompany this aspect to its work with regularly publishing what it considers essential reading, but in bite-size form and therefore ideal for the hard-pressed small, creative business.
