AN oldie but goodie: In the current edition of satirical magazine, Private Eye, the Telegraph’s film critic, SF Said, himself gets panned for a nasty piece he wrote about the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Criticising outgoing artistic director, Shane Danielsen, Said writes: “Danielsen’s predecessor, Lizzie Francke, opened her festivals with titles such as Dancer in the Dark, Amelie and Ratcatcher.
“They made big statements about the nature of the festival, underlining its commitment to showing the very best new films, and creating a real sense of occasion. Under Danielsen, Edinburgh has lost that special feeling.”
Helpfully, Private Eye points out that there was an SF Said hired by Francke as a programmer and fired by Danielsen.
