RADIO broadcaster, Scott Wilson, synonomous with the airwaves of Edinburgh for the last two decades, is to leave Radio Forth today after being surprisingly ousted by the company.
Wilson, arguably Edinburgh’s best-known radio presenter, was serving as deputy programme controller at Forth but is understood to have told earlier this week that the post was being made redundant.
What turned out to be his last broadcast came only 24 hours earlier when he hosted what had become a familiar annual commentary to locals and visitors alike at the Edinburgh Festival Firworks.
Ironically, earlier this year, Wilson gave up his breakfast slot on Forth2 to concentrate on his management role with the Emap-owned station.
It is also believed he has already received approaches from elsewhere, but is to give himself a holiday before deciding where his future lies.
Wilson’s duties included public relations and developing the station’s website. He was previously head of Forth2, and is said to be taking the news very calmly and is being pragmatic about it.
