STUDENTS from the universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde have been named winners at student media awards run by The Guardian newspaper.
At the 2015 Guardian Student Media Awards, the Student Website of the Year title went to the-gist.org (Glasgow Insight into Science and Technology), run by students at Glasgow.
Meanwhile, Timothy Revell, from the University of Strathclyde, took the category title, Student Feature Writer of the Year.
Say organisers: The awards,which are judged by a panel of journalists from across the industry, recognise the country’s most talented students planning to enter the journalism and media industry.
“Two new categories were introduced this year – Student Media Startup of the Year was awarded to Pietro Passarelli for quickQuote, a project that allows individuals to automatically generate interactive video quotes, and Student Multimedia Journalist of the Year went to Kara Fox for her interactive and video series on the medicinal cannabis debate in the UK.”

Student Critic of the Year – Chris Owen, University of York
Student Photographer of the Year – Louis Supple, Falmouth University
Student Multimedia Journalist of the Year – Kara Fox, Goldsmith’s University
Student Media Startup of the Year – Pietro Passarelli, University of London
