AS part of the annual City of Perth Winter Festival, two brimming markets will run simultaneously, offering festive shoppers the ideal opportunity to take advantage of the finest crafts and delicacies Perthshire has to offer.
The event on Saturday 28th November will see Perth Museum and Gallery throw open its doors to welcome the inaugural Perthshire Creates – Christmas Design Market, while the Christmas Craft
Market will be held on King Edward Street. Both markets will feature a huge variety of stalls, selling everything from art and photography to clothing, textiles and jewellery offering shoppers an exclusive opportunity to purchase a multitude of unique, handmade products, as well as to meet and mingle with the makers of these special gift items.
Alongside the assortment of festive stalls, the event will also offer a selection of traditional rides and amusements as well as hosting a Community Stage.
Councillor John Kellas, convener of Enterprise & Infrastructure for Perth & Kinross Council, which hosts the City of Perth Winter Festival, said: “For the first time ever, City of Perth Winter Festival is providing two craft and design markets this year instead of just the one, doubling shoppers chances of finding that perfect Christmas present for friends and family members.
“With such a wide range of unique Scottish arts, crafts and food products all in one place, we hope festive shoppers will be spoilt for choice and give their loved ones something a little different in their stocking this year.
“Designers will also be on hand at their stalls to offer information about the products they have designed and produced. It’s rare to be able to get this level of connection with local artists, so makes gifts that extra bit personal and special.”
The Christmas markets are just two of the myriad of events taking place at this year’s City of Perth Winter Festival. With everything from the annual Light Switch On, headlined by pop rock band, Lawson and Billy Ocean, to the renowned Chocolate Festival, the programme is packed full of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy this winter.
