“Magnus Llewellin has been promoted to editor-in-chief at the Herald & Times Group from his role at the helm of The Herald and a team of executive editors will lead the other titles in the group.

“Neil Mackay has been promoted to executive editor at the Sunday Herald after working at the title in roles including investigations editor and head of news, while Rob Bruce and Callum Baird will hold the same positions at the Glasgow Evening Times and The National respectively.”

A PILOT programme made by a Glasgow-based independent TV production company has been given the green light to become a full series, on Channel 4.

Says Channel 4 of Supershoppers: “[It] is a new kind of consumer programme, combining features, satire and investigative journalism. The Supershoppers are looking at retailing, marketing, branding, and how and why we buy what we buy – everything from clothes to food to travel, what goes in to them, how they are sold to us, and why we buy them.”

And the company behind it is Firecrest Films.

PAUL Hutcheon, in The Herald, begins: “The UK surveillance watchdog has finished its report into allegations Police Scotland unlawfully spied on journalists’ sources.

“However, Holyrood’s Justice Committee has been told that a final determination cannot be made as a special Commissioner for spying legislation is not currently in post.”
