PAGE 23 of yesterday’s Daily Record reported the death of one of its former journalists, John Nairn.
He was aged 69. The paper says he “passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home in Cumbernauld”.
The former investigative reporter was, among many achievements, known as The Judge, on the Record’s sister title, the Sunday Mail.

GUIDANCE on how best to construct a contract between a creative advertising agency and a client is being offered in a joint initiative by two sector trade bodies.
The Incorporated Society of British Advertisers (ISBA) and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) have launched what they describe as “two, new flexible framework contract templates designed as a starting point to help clients and agencies formalise their relationships in an era where services are converging and relationships becoming more multi-functional and complex”.
Says an announcement: “The fast-evolving marcoms landscape needs flexible terms to deal with the reality of today’s client/agency relationships, which are often multi-disciplined.”

AN announcer on BBC Scotland is bidding to become a trustee of the radio sector body, the Radio Academy.
Tony Currie – the first broadcast voice on Radio Clyde and who has since presented at several other radio stations, such as KPFK, Westsound and LBC – is up against 11 other hopefuls, for just six places.
Currie can be often heard presenting on his own radio station, Radio Six International.

THE tenth birthday of the screen industries training school – the Edinburgh-based Scottish Screen Academy – is being celebrated in Inverness tomorrow, during a two-day festival starting today.
The anniversary was noted on allmediascotland.com last week – here.
And the festival in Inverness, XpoNorth, describes itself as “a hot-bed of creative activity”, adding: “The only festival of its kind in Scotland covering fashion and crafts, publishing, screen and broadcast as well as music, XpoNorth is a unique event in the UK’s cultural calendar.”
