THE nominations have been announced for this year’s Edinburgh TV Awards, to be handed out at the Edinburgh International Television Festival, taking place in August.

The four categories include some of the biggest names in the sector.

They nominations are:

Production Company of the Year: Big Talk Productions, ITN Productions, Kudos, Red Production Company, Roughcut TV and Twofour

New Programme of the Year: Catastrophe, Fortitude, Happy Valley, The Honourable Woman, The Island with Bear Grylls and Marvellous

Best Online Innovation: 4NewsWall, BBC Cost of Care site, Don’t Stop the Music, Reverse the Odds for Stand Up 2 Cancer, Tofu and The Voice Homecoach App

WIDELY reported: the resumption yesterday of a trial in Edinburgh, involving the former editor of the defunct News of the World.

Andy Coulson denies lying under oath, during a case five years ago, of the former MSP, Tommy Sheridan.

All three report the court hearing a taped interview, involving Coulson during the Sheridan case.

The trial is expected to last four weeks.

BEGINS a regular columnist on the website, holdthefrontpage: “The image that transfixed me at the Regional Press Awards was the Dundee Evening Telegraph’s front page, depicting a miserable scene of unconscious drug addicts.”
